Bookish Thoughts on Crazy Rich Asians & Reaction to the Witcher Trailer
Hey y'all! Today I thought I'd write about my bookish thoughts on Crazy Rich Asians as well as my reaction to the Witcher trailer! Let's get started!
So, I am exactly 164 pages into Crazy Rich Asians and I'm LOVING and ADORING it! I absolutely loved the movie, which is what made me pick up the book! In fact, I bought the whole trilogy knowing that I'll love it!
I've gotten through a big chunk of the book and let me tell you, it is flawless! The writing style is so easy to read and fly through. The author is incredibly witty and funny. The descriptions of the setting, food, fashion, characters are amazing! There's a ton of different characters in this book, but it's surprisingly easy to remember who is who and what they're like because each character is so well fleshed out and given their own unique personality. I really appreciate that because too often side characters all blend into one another.
So far in the book I've gotten through Rachel and Nick flying to Singapore where Rachel is sloooowly starting to piece together that Nick is richer than the gods. I'm about to start the part where Rachel goes to dinner with Nick and his family at his grandmother's house.
The thing I love most about this book though, is how much I'm learning about different cultures. The author does such a good job with footnotes explaining different words, phrases, foods, and places so it's very easy to absorb this new culture and learn a lot from it!
Now for my thoughts on the Witcher trailer. Can I just sum it up in one word? AWESOME! I am so pumped for this! Let's preface this by saying the Witcher was a fantasy book series turned video game series now turned to a Netflix series. I have not read the book or played the game, but I really want to. Someday!
Henry Cavill plays the Witcher and I am SO excited to see him in action. I've been a huge fan of Henry Cavill ever since he was in The Tudors. He looks as good as ever even with white hair lol. Apparently his character hunts monsters and gets paid for it. I love that there's elves in the story who taught humans how to harness Chaos into magic. I adore elves and magic systems and I'm looking forward to seeing how that all plays out.
There's a character with a deformed face who I'm going to guess is the villainess. Again, I don't know anything about this series but I always love a good villain that's a woman. And there's a blonde girl who I think has great powers and is going to rule and try to beat the evil lady.
That's all I could gather from the trailer. Even though I know nothing about the story, I love it already and I truly do think that this will rival Game of Thrones!
That's all for my ramblings today. I'll talk to y'all soon!
