Current Reads & Fave Music for Summer

Hello bookworms!! Today I'm going to be chatting all about my current reads (physical books and library ebooks!) as well as some of my fave songs for this summer! Let's get into it!

I'm only reading two physical books at the moment: Slammerkin by Emma Donoghue (very graphic historical fiction novel of an impoverished young teen) and Every Summer After by Carley Fortune (a lakeside summer romance book). I'm really enjoying both, however Slammerkin has so many trigger warnings that I really caution you if you read it to check the triggers out first. 

I also have several ebooks checked out from my library that I'm racing to finish lol. Two of them are thrillers: The Spare Room by Andrea Bartz and She Started It by Sian Gilbert. I'm also reading a ballet romance set in Australia called Pas de Don't by Chloe Angyal. It's super adorable, I'm almost halfway through it and am loving it. 

I'm also reading a coming of age young adult novel called Bicoastal by Dahlia Adler. And last but not least is another young adult book called Fatima Tate Takes the Cake by Rhadijah VanBrakle. This book is about a young Muslim teen woman who loves baking and falls in love with a college age boy. Her parents end up arranging a marriage for her with that very same boy. But as soon as arrangements are made, he becomes very controlling and abusive. I'm interested to see how that book handles that topic. 

Now for summer music! These are the songs that have caught my interest this summer and what I've been replaying:

Mermaids by Florence and the Machine - an absolutely stunning perfection of a song that you all HAVE to listen to! If no other song catches your fancy, listen to this one, it's amazing. "England's only ever gray or green..."

Stellar by Shiadanni - a beautiful ethereal beat that is just plain fun to replay.

Jericho by Iniko - such a good beat and lyrics, I found this on TikTok (of course lol)

KID by Eryn Martin - this has like a tropical little flute playing in the background and along with the beat of the song is perfect for blasting by the poolside or beach

Just a Girl by Florence and the Machine - a remake of the hit from Gwen Stefani, but I like this version even better. SO GOOD!!! It's from the show Yellowjackets.

Borrowing Time by Ari Mason - a cheery, high pitched chiming chant of a song, it's so delightful and I love it!
