Books I Need To Finish Up! -Physical & Library Ebooks-
Hiya bookworms and Happy November! Can't believe it's already a week into the month! I've been busy celebrating my 30th birthday and wow, did I have so much fun and was so spoiled! Great times, gratitude abounds, loving life! In today's post, I'm going to be chatting about books that I'm in the middle of reading and that I NEED TO FINISH UP! I am determined! Three are physical books that I own and three are library ebooks that I checked out on Libby. Let's get into it!
- The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah- I am SO close to finishing this and omg, it's just breaking my heart in the way that only the great Kristin Hannah can do. I am so scared to see how it ends that I've been delaying reading it and only reading small amounts at a time. I just need to get it over with. Hopefully it ends semi-happy lol. This book is about a girl growing up in the wilderness of Alaska with a troubled and abusive father and a mother who gets most of the abuse. It's hard hitting, it's beautiful in the descriptions of nature, I just love this book.
- Please See Us by Caitlin Mullen- I'm about halfway through this book and loving it. I also have been putting this off because I'm scared of how it's going to end. This is a common procrastination problem that I have haha. This is a thriller set on the boardwalks of Atlantic City about several women who have gone missing and a serial killer is on the loose. A psychic and a former art dealer turned spa worker team up to figure out what's going on, guided by the visions the psychic is having of the deceased victims. It's so good and bone-chilling at times, I can only hope the women in this book get justice and the serial killer gets the punishment he deserves.
- That Summer by Jennifer Weiner- I love Jennifer Weiner and I binged a lot of her books this year. I'm about 3/4 of the way through with this book and I need to just finish this already. It's from the perspectives of two very different women, set in Cape Cod (like most of her books, which I love), and it deals with trauma from SA and abuse. Very hard hitting, I'm curious as to how this will end. Please check trigger warnings if you read this book.
- Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson- This is a reread from my childhood! I adore Laurie Halse Anderson, she's such an amazing author. This book was one of my faves as an older kid and I decided to reread it when I saw my library got it as an ebook. Basically it's about the yellow fever outbreak in Philadelphia in the late 1700s. This might be too hard hitting, especially after covid, but I love it anyway.
- You Can Trust Me by Wendy Heard- This is a thriller that I barely just started. All I know is two girls team up for a con and one ends up leaving the other and vanishing. Other than that idk, but I've had this on my radar to read for awhile, so I'm excited.
- The Smell of Other People's Houses by Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock- I checked this out because I'm on an Alaska kick thanks to The Great Alone and this follows different young people living lives in Alaska. The cover looks cozy too, so perfect to start the winter with. I haven't even started this yet, so no opinions yet!
That concludes my list of books that I need to kick myself into gear and finish! Follow my goodreads account at bookishmunchkin to see how I finish them as I go. Until next time, happy reading!
