A One Star Read & DNFing Books!

Hey y'all! Today it is with a heavy heart that I have to announce a ONE star read that I got from the library. Yep, it sucks, and that's a pity. The book I hated is called Not The Girls You're Looking For by Aminah Mae Safi. It really has no plot (part of the one star reason) other than focusing on a half Arab American Muslim girl and her three friends and a dude that she's unnecessarily rude to. I hated it because there's literally no plot, the girls are all so angry and rude and mean to each other, and the way that the main character treated this guy was mean as well. It was just all around nasty meaness and chaotic no-plot! Also, the author made the girl's Arab side of the family really standoffish and rude to outsiders, instead of some positive representation, which disappointed me. It just all around sucked, I got 71 pages into it before I threw it to the side or...DNF it.

DNF stands for Did Not Finish and it's a sort of controversial topic in the book blogging community on whether you should DNF books. I say, HECK YES YOU SHOULD! If you hate a book, are bored of a book, just not clicking with a book, and it's been at least 50 pages (my own weird rule, feel free to disregard), then throw it away! Give it away! Return it! Don't waste precious moments of your life on something you're not enjoying. Life is WAY too short for that. So DNF away in my opinion. And so I did with that library book. :)

Have a good one, I'll see y'all tomorrow,

Alette
