Hey bookworms! Today I'm going to do a mini review of The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw as well as show the bookish giveaway goodies I've won! Let's get into it!

The Wicked Deep is a young adult mystery/"spooky" book. I hesitate to label it horror or thriller because it's not quite at that level, but it is a bit of both. It's about a young girl named Penny who lives on a lighthouse island by the coastal town of Sparrow, Oregon. The setting is very atmospheric and creepy, yet I love it. I love any book set in the Pacific Northwest. Anywho, the town of Sparrow is haunted every summer by the ghosts of three sisters: Marguerite, Aurora, and Hazel. They return every summer until Summer Solstice, lure boys out into the ocean, and drown them for revenge because they were killed 200 years ago for being "witches". 

I won't go into anymore details, but this book was so easy to get into and absorb yourself into the setting and characters. There's a huge plot twist that I didn't see coming and it ends unexpectedly to how I imagined it would. There was a bit of insta-love which I took points off for, but I gave it a solid 4 stars. I'll definitely reread this around Halloween time!

Next up is the bookish goodies I won in a giveaway from instagram! I won this book, The Seventh Sun by Lani Forbes as well as a beautiful bookmark, pin, little doll, and character cards. I'm so grateful to have won this and I'm so excited to get into this book! All I know is that it's about Mayan and Aztec royalty as well as a potential apocalypse. Can't wait to get into this one! Isn't the cover absolutely stunning?
