Life Lately & Current Kindle Reads

Hey y'all! Happy July! I hope you all are having a good summer! I'll be honest, I've been dealing with depression lately and just being really down and out of things. I miss being back in the swing of things; I hope I will be soon. With depression, you just have to wait it out, which sucks because waiting is the worst! So, I've just been sleeping a lot and coloring to keep my mind free of anxiety. I've also been watching Mad Men (again) with my dad; it's our favorite show to watch together. That and Below Deck Mediterranean on Bravo. That's such a fun summer show, I love it! Okay, let's get into my current Kindle reads:

1. The Mermaid Trials by Cameron Drake. This is a fun read all about mermaids. It's basically about mermaids in a Hunger Games type trial of competitions. I haven't read much of it yet, but our main character mermaid is treated like a slave and itching to go to the Mermaid Trials. I love the cover, I think it's really pretty!

2. Her Guardian series by G. Bailey. Omg, this series is SO amazing, and I'm only on the first book. I downloaded the 4 book completed collection. This is about a young woman who is studying to become a vet. She saves a hurt young wolf pup, who shifts into a little boy. From there she learns about wolf shifters, vampires, witches, and angels. It's alluded to in the book that one woman will bring together the alpha wolf shifter, vampire prince, witch prince, and head angel. I love how all four of my favorite paranormal things are included in this series. It's great so far!

3. Suppressed by Wendi L. Wilson. I haven't read much of this book yet, but so far it's about a poor girl and her mother living in a mean old woman's mansion as her slaves on this island. The girl basically hates her life and is only happy when she's swimming in the ocean. However, things are changing when a new boy moves next door on the island. The old lady orders the girl not to have anything to do with him for some reason. We all know that's not going to last!

4. Piece of Dragon by Laurel Chase. This is the first in a series and it's a very interesting book. It's about a young woman who escaped to join a circus at a young age. She has some sort of magical ability where she can see and smell colors and scents of emotions and remove or add them to people. I really like the concept!

5. Sea of Stars by Amy A. Bartol. I've been reading this book forever; I can't help savoring it because I don't want it to end! It's the second in the Cricket Trilogy and I can't say much so I won't spoil people but it's all about her and Trey outrunning Kyon. I LOVE this book. Please read this series, you won't be disappointed!

6. Royal Trials -Imposter- by Tate James. This is a super fun book about a trained thief and pickpocket who breaks into the royal palace to save her friend. She's forced into this competition of girls competing to marry the royal princes. It's like The Selection series but with a more dangerous and feisty main character!

7. Rhapsodic by Laura Thalassa. I have barely started this book, but I've heard great things about it. It's about siren dealing a bargain with the devil (or something) and a fae prince who sets his eyes on her and wants her for some reason. Like I said, very vague, but it should be great from what I've heard!

8. Shadowspell Academy -The Culling Trials- by K.F. Breene and Shannon Mayer. This is another Hunger Games type book about a young woman who lives on her family's farm. She briefly mentions a brother who had been summoned to the Shadowspell Academy and later either died or disappeared. Now a strange man delivers an envelope summoning her other brother so the girl dresses as a boy and goes in his place.

9. A Pirate Escape by G. Bailey. This book is all about pirates rescuing a girl who has marks on her which makes her an outcast in society. She's learning what the marks mean, what that means for her, and her journey falling in love with the pirates. I love this book series (I downloaded the collection), G. Bailey is such a good writer!

That's what I'm reading on my Kindle lately, I'll be happy to do bookish thoughts on any of these books if it strikes your fancy! Hope you're all doing well and I'll see you soon!
