The Best 5 STAR Book I've Read in a Long Time & Writing Frustration

Hey y'all! I'm bundled up inside this evening while snow and wind blow around outside. It's so dark and cold brrr! I miss the nice weather already lol. Today has been a quiet day with me just taking care of my mom (she's doing really well and doing everything she should), cleaning a few things, attempting to write (more on that later), and finishing an amazing book!

The book that I finished is called Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks (who won her Pulitzer Prize for March). It's set in a small village in England in 1666 and follows the main character Anna Frith and shows how she and her fellow villagers cope with the turmoil and tragedy of the Plague. I was blown away about how the author shows how the villagers react and treat each other when dealing with grief and illness, paranoia and fear. It seemed so accurate and so human to me. I felt like I was there and experiencing everything the villagers and Anna Frith were. Anna has become one of my most favorite characters because of her pure strength and spirit, her will to do what is right even in the face of a mob doing wrong, and her love of learning. She is simply an amazing character! I loved seeing how people changed in the book and was so so SO satisfied with the ending. I won't spoil anything but I will say this: with all the death and gore in the book, the ending is all about rebirth and new beginnings, which I really appreciate. Y'all HAVE to read this book! If you don't like historical fiction, read it anyway. It focuses more on the human experience rather than history. I give this book 5 well deserved stars!

I was working on writing today and got really frustrated and just gave up for the rest of the day. LOL. It's so hard to write creatively with my mentally ill brain and cognitive issues. I guess I just have to take it slow and keep chugging along and take breaks when needed. After my break and exercise, I came up with a new idea for my writing style and I'm going to try it out and see how it goes tomorrow. A new day brings a new start. On that note, I'll wish y'all a good evening and I'll see ya tomorrow :)
