New Fave Author Recommendation -Deirdre Riordan Hall-

Hey y'all! Today for my morning bookish post, I wanted to do an author recommendation! So...dah dah dah duhhh, my latest favorite author is Deirdre Riordan Hall! She's a YA author of mostly contemporaries and let me tell you, she's fantastic! 

I usually don't read contemporaries but she's such an awesome storyteller and weaves words in such a lovely way that it sucks me right in. My favorite book of hers is Sugar which is about an overweight Polish-Latina girl who is trying to figure out her place in the world and her worth. A boy comes along who helps her find herself and well...I won't spoil the rest.

The other book I read of hers that I love is Pearl, about a teen girl whose mother was a rock star and is into just about every bad thing you can get sucked into in life. It's all about Pearl fighting to be who she's destined to be and not fall into her mother's footsteps. 

Stories like that are what I love: everyday struggles and striving for growth. Her books can get very heavy emotionally and topically, so I recommend you be mature when reading them, aka, not for youngsters. I discovered Deirdre's books on Kindle Unlimited, so it was free to read them, how awesome! I highly recommend you check her out, as well as her other contemporaries which I haven't gotten around to reading yet!
