I Have No Goals or Resolutions For 2021!

Happy New Year everyone!!! I can't believe it's already a new year...I feel like 2021 sounds like this far away, futuristic era, so it's weird that we're living in it now lol. I'll be honest, I'm not as pumped for the new year as I usually am. I'm kind of cautious about what to expect this year just with all of the pandemic and such going on. I'm hoping with all my heart for a much better year.
Why I Have No Goals or Resolutions for 2021
So, let's get into why this year I'm not setting any goals or resolutions. Like I said, I'm not as excited for this year with all the bad things going on. Don't get me wrong, I'm very grateful that I made it to this year! I think, I'm just stressed from the past year and seasonal depression is kicking in. Due to all of this, I made the *radical* decision to not make any goals or resolutions for this year. I know, I know, I'm a lazy mess. BUT, honestly this year I just want to focus on my health, both physical and mental.
I don't want to put any added stressors on myself for this year. I stress myself out so very much and can cause mental health symptoms to flare up because of that. So, I'm trying something new and am going to work on not adding extra pressure or stress on myself.
If I happen to achieve a lot of things this year, then wonderful! I'll be proud of myself! But I'm not going to make concrete plans and force myself to do anything. And I recommend you don't either. After the past year that we've all had, we deserve to just focus on our wellbeing and do what's best for us personally.
The only "goal" I have for this year is that I set my Goodreads reading goal to read 60 books this year, up from my 50 books of last year (which I totally achieved by the way, yay me!). That's it. Reading is good for me so I figured that wouldn't hurt anything.
Give Yourself A Break This Year
I'm going to recommend everyone give themselves a big break this year! Don't stress out over stupid small things, don't worry over productivity, don't compare yourself to people who are "hustling" more than you or whatnot. It doesn't matter. All that matters is your health and happiness!
And even if your health and happiness isn't great (because mine isn't all the time either), you still deserve to be very proud of yourself because you are trying your very best. That's all you can do in life! Let's go into this year with more gentleness with ourselves and self care and love. We'll get through the hard parts of the coming year and rejoice in the good parts. That's all we can hope for and ask for.
I wish you all the best and lots of good things coming your way for this year and I hope 2021 treats us all much better than last year did. Take care of yourselves, give yourself a pat on the back, and I'll talk to you soon.
Alette
