Bookish Thoughts on Lord of Shadows
Hey y'all! Things have been crazy over here, I hope to be able to tell you more soon, but just trust me when I say things have been insane! I've even been falling behind in my reading, so I thought I'd do a bookish thoughts post today about Lord of Shadows, the second book in the Dark Artifices series by Cassandra Clare.
I'm about 118 pages into the book and my overall feeling for the book right now is...frustration. But let's start with what I like first. I really like the continued descriptions of Los Angeles and the desert meeting the ocean. I love Cassandra Clare's scenery descriptions. I love reading about the Blackthorn siblings antics and camaraderie, I really missed that since reading the first book.
However, it's been SO frustrating reading the tension between Emma and Julian and seeing Emma lie to Julian and the whole facade with Emma and Mark is annoying. I understand that this is part of the plot and it HAS to happen, I just hate it. I also hate that Mark and Christina aren't together and that Diego is treating Christina so poorly. I hate how snobby the Centurions are and how it breaks the flow of the L.A. Academy.
I am excited to see how things progress from here. Like what are the Centurions going to discover? What is Jace and Clary's mission? How are Emma and Julian going to get close again and will Mark and Christina ever get close? What is Diego's reason for lying to Christina? Those are the questions I can't wait to be answered!
I know I'm way behind and everyone has already read the third book, but I hope you enjoyed this! I'll talk to y'all soon!
Alette
