You're Doing Enough!
colored by me :)
Hey y'all! I'm back with just a short ramble today. I've been so fatigued today and slept quite a lot and I felt bad and ashamed about it. Which leads me to my topic for today: you ARE doing ENOUGH!
This post is for everyone, but especially for people with chronic illnesses and disabilities. It's so easy to feel like you're not doing enough in this world. That you could be doing more, earning more, impressing more, but that's not what we're here for. We are here to live, learn, and love, but it's so easy to lose sight of that.
Getting caught up in the whirlwind of feeling the pressure to work more and make more money and impress more people really sucks. It just does. Stay out of that whirlwind. Even I get caught up in that and I'm not even able to work! Yet, I feel society pressuring me that if I'm not making money then I'm not worth anything. Or if I'm not impressing anyone with my status, education, wealth, or job, then yet again, I'm nothing.
Don't listen to society, especially if you're ill and/or disabled. Society is not made for people like us. Learn to do what makes YOU happy, fulfilled, and accomplished. If you can't work, focus on hobbies or even just taking care of yourself each day. If you're so sick that you have to stay in bed for the day, then stay in bed! That's your task for the day, to rest and listen to your body! That's doing more than enough.
We need to break down societal pressures of constant work productivity and economic earnings and instead just focus on being good people and caring for ourselves and each other. Too bad no one cares about that nowadays, I think the world would be much better off if we did.
So today, after sleeping, resting, and giving myself a pep talk, I said "I am doing enough". Maybe not to most people, but to me, I am.
I'll see ya soon and take care :)
Alette
