Art, Happiness, & Claiming Your Title
Celtic Cross painted by Me!
Whew, it's getting hotter and hotter out! Lucky for me, I've been busy inside all day working on two new pieces of art, adding some finishing touches to another, revising a poem, doing laundry, and writing!
I have to say, ever since I started making time for my different forms of art and claiming the title of "artist" and "writer", I have been so much happier. Art really does feed your soul and help you feel more alive! It gives me more of a purpose than I've ever had before. If you have a form of art that you love, whether it's cooking, listening to music, or whatever, please make time for it! I know we all have busy lives and schedules but it's so easy to put things off instead of making what you love a priority.
Speaking of claiming the title of being an "artist", "writer", "musician", etc, I just wanted to say how important this is! Claiming the title is claiming your worth and you are worth being honest about who you are and what you love doing! There's no rules for claiming titles, anyone who does art is an artist, anyone who writes is a writer, anyone who plays music is a musician. Don't listen to the pretentious naysayers who place limits and standards on these titles. You know who you are, proclaim it!
I'll sign off by leaving this little gem that I colored out of one of my favorite coloring books, "Create Magic" by Katie Daisy.
Grow free, wild flower!
Alette :)
