Simple Living Journey & Art Ideas
"Ophelia-by the pond" John William Waterhouse
Happy Friday y'all! I hope everyone is having a great day :) I've had a pretty good, chill day! I went with my mom and brother to see the new Star Wars movie...for the second time lol. I kind of have a strange obsession with Kylo Ren and his temper tantrums, he totally makes the whole movie! I could write a whole post dedicated to why I love Kylo but I doubt anyone wants to read that hehe.
Today I'm finally getting serious about decluttering my possessions and making things more simple and peaceful. The more I've looked into minimalism, the more I don't really like it, so I'm just focusing on living more simply rather than doing the whole minimalist lifestyle. What's the difference between simple living and minimalism? Why, good question, I'll blog about that tomorrow!
For now, I just need to start 1. CLEANING, for the love of god, I need to clean! Whenever I get into a funk or depression or just your basic inner turmoil, I throw cleanliness and organization out the window. So I definitely need to get back into that.
2. I need to streamline my room. I get really overwhelmed with a lot of stuff on the walls, bright colors, random patterns, knick knacks. So I'm going to clear all that out. Make my bedding white, have only two tapestries up for some decoration, pack away some knick knack treasures. All that fun stuff.
3. I want to add some candles and essential oils and wax warmers. Good smells are everything in a living space and it really adds warmth and coziness. Not to mention, everything is more beautiful by candlelight.
I think that's a good start to my journey!
Now, onto my art ideas, which has been a journey of sorts. I wonder if any other creative people have had this happen to them? Where you dream and daydream about an idea, all day and night, but it's just a tad out of reach and you can't create it in reality? That's me right now. I have these ideas and images in my head that I want to paint, but it's always a bit fuzzy, a bit out of reach. Maybe I'm not ready to create them yet, but I'll try! Creating something (even if it ends up complete garbage) is better than creating nothing.
As I write this I can see snow clouds rolling in over the mountains in the distance. I think I'll go on a quick walk to clear my head and breathe in the special smell of snow coming. Don't you love that smell? Everything is crisp and cold and smells so sharp, almost bitter, but not. It's the little things in life like that that make it really worth living.
I hope you all have a great start to the weekend!
See y'all tomorrow,
Alette :)
